When Roy Lichtenstein exploded onto the 1960s art scene, he was as controversial as he was lauded. The New York Times even claimed that he was the worst artist in the U.S. MoMA, however, was quick to recognize Lichtenstein's significance and started to collect his work as early as 1964. To celebrate the long relationship between Roy Lichtenstein and MoMA, the MoMA Design Store and the Lichtenstein Foundation have closely collaborated to create an exclusive line of tabletop, desktop and wearable accessories that feature motifs from some of the over 100 Lichtenstein pieces in MoMA's collection. The products pay tribute to the meticulous technique, vibrancy and humor of Lichtenstein's images and make these well-loved and iconic images part of our everyday lives.
Brushstrokes Coasters feature:
Brushstrokes, 1965; View from the Window from the Landscapes Series, 1985; Brushstrokes, 1967; and Brushstrokes, 1966–68.
