Ibasen

Founded in Tokyo in 1590, Ibasen was the official fan supplier to the Edo Shogunate. The handmade uchiwa fans, made of washi paper and bamboo, were decorated with ukiyo-e prints by famous artists such as Utagawa Kuniyoshi. Today, Ibasen fans are on display in museums such as the British Museum and the Van Gogh Museum.
